Bucolic Life…

If you look closely at the images below, you can see Casa de Luca. All the kids who have been over this property of recent weeks have made a beeline for it. It is still going strong, no leaks and solidly sitting in that tree. What an engineering marvel Rich created ❤️❤️

The farm is springing to life literally as the days warm up. We have had such hot days and then days of heavy rain, this is leading up to what is being forecast as a dry hot summer. We have not had one of those in a while, filling the tanks and water soaking the ground now is advantageous. Things looking very lush currently! I put the sheep out to enjoy a change of scene and some different grass, they are so full up that they spent most of their time just sitting enjoying the sun 😊

Eggs are definitely not in short supply! Tweedledee passed recently, one of my 2 oldest hens, she was around 12-15 years old, incredible really, the heritage breeds will do this though if in ideal surrounds. Another, Blackie, had a vent prolapse, and we had to end her suffering as I could not fix it. I am sad, as I always am when one of the animals dies, they did have a good life here and that is somewhat of a consolation.

The ponies are still in purgatory and highly resentful of me. I have had the vet in to confirm the diagnosis and started Sophie on an anti-inflammatory. They are not impressed at all and call out to me every time I venture out. All going to plan they should be back to usual within the month.

After 7 years we have finally put the washer into the wash house and inserted a dishwasher in the kitchen. It has been over a decade since we last had a dishwasher, and certainly the wash house is much more user friendly with running water, rather than having to cart it. We had got so used to this that it did not bother us, but have to say now we have it, the convenience is rather nice 🙂

I bought the dishwasher on marketplace, (another great buy, a year old and in pristine condition), as I have done with all our whiteware, (our $60 fridge bought when we first settled in Dunedin still going strong 😂). Turns out, Luca and the seller’s son are in the same class and both heading off to Canterbury! I had no idea about this until going to pick it up, will miss this about Dunedin; connections are everywhere, it really is just a large village.

I will miss this view through the kitchen window; we will have to find somewhere else to hang our Costa Rican hammock 🙂

❤️

I came upon this recently after going through all our documents and photos in preparation for the sale. It was taken before we bought the property, we have made a few changes! I clearly remembering seeing this photo online before we decided to settle in Dunedin and thinking, hmmm now that has potential!! 😉

Cruise season has begun signalling the beginning of the warm months ❤️🎉❤️
