๐20 Years of Us!๐
This month we celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary; such an extraordinary journey we have had so far, it does seem perfect timing to be heading off on another adventure!
The best decision of my life was to climb Machu Picchu! Let’s see what the next 20 years brings โค๏ธ.
Look at the beginning of us, awww so young, we had no idea what was ahead! ๐

We are having such beautiful dawns and dusks here currently. Iona Church below us is looking stunning in the evening glow, we will miss her telling us the time every hour. It is so comforting hearing the bells chime

The boys have been butchered and will keep us in meat for the next year no matter where we end up. Rich and I are tidying up their paddock sowing more seed, I see the grass is already sprouting back. I am always amazed how quickly it happens

Sophie and Secret had a dental visit recently; at almost 30 and 20 it was time to make sure all was well. Can’t say they enjoyed it, but it is done – phew!

I will miss their expectant faces as I walk out the door in the morning, patiently awaiting their breakfast. This spring has been unprecedented in its growth; I have had to put them off the grass for a bit into the barn area eating just hay. Laminitis, (hoof issue), is apparently rife this spring, (according to my farrier), and Sophie is showing signs, they are not happy with this decision ๐คจ

I planted my vegetable garden for what will be the last time. It has served us so well this little space providing ample food and bringing me much joy, so good for the soul ๐

Rich and I have tidied up the orchard, replacing a couple of trees that were not doing well and sorting their bases, (we had previously done a surround but neither of us satisfied with how it looked or worked). Doing this is aesthetically pleasing, but mainly it is about being able to weed whack without hitting the trunks and preventing the ponies from grazing too close. There is weed matting under the gravel, we have strived to make this property as easy care and low maintenance as possible. The use of weed matting, gravel, mindful planting, fencing, animal grazing, and good drainage has helped immensely.

The clay bank that we landscaped is absolutely thriving this year! We were finally able to put river stone on it to complete the look, so happy with how it has come together, it’s extremely low maintenance and looks great year-round.

The bees are making most of the gentle spring and are busy busy busy!!!!

Brunches on the deck have recommenced, Rich rustles this up for us from leftovers in the fridge and our never-ending supply of eggs, a perfect way to use them ๐

I was heading up the back trail at the top of the property with Pica and took this, such a lovely scene – the entrance to the harbour, on a what the locals call a “Dunner Stunner”…โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ
