Pork Fiction…

There was much debate on their names on our way home with the boys.

In honour of the recent watching of Pulp Fiction, we settled on Vincent and Jules.

The 4-hour drive was SMELLY to say the least, and everyone was very pleased to get them out into the piglet pen. They will reside in this area for approximately a month, when they will then be big enough to move into their own large paddock. They have settled in well, eating, napping, skipping, so I know they are happy 🙂

I highly recommend this breeder if you are looking for Saddlebacks. They send their piglets all over NZ.

Below is the link to their website, they do a great job, and it is heartening to see a small-scale farm thriving, proving it can be done!

Home – Gielen Family Farm

Our time in Christchurch was really lovely, definitely a good idea to go for the long weekend!

Rich and I hit the park in the morning while Luca did his own thing. Walking and using the scooters (I am a little addicted to them, they are so much fun). This time I made an effort to take more photos as we explored, still did not get to it all it, is so huge but saw a lot.

We then picked Luca up and headed over to Diamond Harbour, having a late lunch at the Two Thumbs Brewery, which was an unexpected, but great find tucked away on the peninsular!

Lyttleton is in the foreground of the below photo, with Diamond Harbour opposite. A ferry takes you across in 10 minutes, however we drove around, as wanted to see all the little bays and villages on the way, it is stunningly beautiful. We strongly considered this area to settle when we first arrived in NZ, as I have mentioned, for Luca where we are offers him more, but this still holds a place in our heart and as you can see from this photo it is really not that dissimilar to Port Chalmers and our surrounds.

Family photos are few and far between these days, Luca graciously tolerates my need for them 🙂

We then headed around, and over, the side road to Sumner for a swim. We could not have been luckier with the weather!

When Rich and I were in the park we booked The Curators House for dinner. The setting is incredible.

Highly recommend it, make a booking though, it is incredibly busy day and night!

The garden that supplies fresh herbs, fruit and vegetables to the restaurant is beautiful and amazingly productive.

Hard to see in the below photo, but the archway is dripping with pears.

Luca and Rich enjoying their sangria’s, under the white umbrella, what a perfect evening it was. We scootered home at around 9pm very contented.

This year I want to focus on experiences for us all, it is starting off well, how very lucky are we…❤️
