How lucky are we….?

Our little harbour, it still takes my breathe away that we live here πŸ™‚

It is the last day of November, how the heck did that happen?! Last time I wrote we were heading to Halloween! They celebrated well! Luca, Lemon, (Luca’s girlfriend), and their friends put it on in an old abandoned house, such a cool setting and a lovely thing to do for the local little kids ❀

Most of November was taken up with exams for Luca, his last one this week, so glad for him they are all over! He turns 16 next week, (I am shaking my head at that) ! He, Rich and friends are going paint balling tomorrow, and then next weekend the kids are going camping up at Bucklands. Such a wonderful way for him to celebrate this big milestone with his friends πŸ™‚

Lets hope the weather holds, it has been a bit up and down. The animals sunbathe as soon as it gets hot, pretty funny how much they love it, so good at just being in the moment πŸ™‚

We have decided, given the weather events of winter that we need a better set up for all of them shelter wise. There is a definite pecking order when it comes to food, if they are all in the barn, the ponies always win! It was the wettest winter we have experienced since living here, and the first with all the animals, (of course!). Do not want to do that again without them all having their own space to get away from wild weather and eat in peace.

So the ponies now have the barn to themselves and we have moved the Kevin and Wilbur to a site of their own. Rich has built them a lovely house which they adore and snuggle in together, very content piggies.

He is working now on the sheep shelter. We debated long and hard on where to put it, they do like to be able to see us down at the house so we had to take that into account πŸ™‚

The upper field, which we put all the animals on back in the Fall, to get it down to dirt so we could sow it with grass seed, has come back really well…

When you don’t have machinery to plow, you have to use what you have, animal feet!. It looked awful for a while there, but with a bit of patience and sunshine it does come right. Some very helpful person called the SPCA on us because of this paddock! An officer came, saw all the animals are happy and healthy, and left. It annoyed me that the concerned person just didn’t ask what we were doing…. I was pretty fuming, but I got over it :).

My garden is producing well, it too, is appreciating the sunshine of late!

Rich and my brother went fishing recently. Rich caught the catch of the day πŸ™‚ The Blue Cod in our local waters is absolutely divine, so lucky to be able to fish right out the back door! Such a lovely meal for supper, it melted in your mouth!

Our harbour from the water, so pretty…

With 2 years left before Luca leaves school we are encouraging life skills! As much as he loves KD, we are tasking him with learning to cook a variety of healthy ” go to” meals, so over these holidays, once a week he cooks. Dishes and clothes washing has been his job for a few years now, he is good at vacuuming, but needs to work on his bathroom cleaning skills! :). Getting his learners drivers license is on the agenda for next year – gulp! Will ease into that one!

Speaking of holidays, we have plans to head away on an adventure, can’t wait!. We have very few left where it will just be the 3 of us, so we intend to make the most of it. More on that next time, for now, as we head into the festive season may we all find some time for the real luxuries in life…. xxx
