Level 2…

Well we are at level 2!!! The kids are back in school, and a lot are back to work.

I am back in my clinic too, and made the drive back into Dunedin for the first time since 25 March. I am the only plunket nurse in Otago/Southland to be back in a clinic, there is still no face to face visits allowed while they work out the logistics of how we are going to do it. It feels odd, but has made it a lot easier on the home front. Rich no longer has to tiptoe around all day, and Luca can have his mates over to hang out. COVID has changed a lot of things and Plunket is certainly feeling the effects, we have been warned of big changes are ahead . What this means for any of us is uncertain, but for now we have a job and time will tell where things will lead.

As soon as level 2 was announced the phone starting dinging and get togethers’ were arranged . The first day we took a hike…

The second day we went to the beach πŸ™‚

Luca soooooooooooooooooooooo happy to get back to school, all his friends are, they have missed each other a lot, and Rich is back to having them all here after school again. I come home to a gaggle of joyful kids πŸ™‚

The Library opened ,(with strict rules), on Thursday and was another highlight for Luca, he was there as soon as he could be and has been immersed in books since πŸ™‚

Mothers Day happened before we dropped a level and we spent it much how we spent Rich’s birthday, quietly but happily. Rich had made pizza the night before, (Luca has declared him the best pizza maker ever! πŸ™‚ ) ,and we turned the day upside down with pizza and cake for breakfast, Luca could not believe his luck πŸ™‚

Hard to believe I used to carry this one around for months and months on my back πŸ™‚

Here we are a decade apart, our beautiful boy

The Roosters are crowing well now . While they were learning it was pretty funny, just like teenager boys their voice boxes took time to mature. They had us laughing so much though, while they went through this. So far they seem to be getting on well, and sharing the hens between them. I am happy with this, as did not want to have to make a choice.

Rich’s Mum mentioned a photo like below recently, and I hunted through some of our old ones. It brought back some lovely memories. These were the very first chicks we raised by hand in Manitoba, Canada….

I used to fill buckets full of warm water and Luca would jump in and hang out on the deck with them, they and Luca spent many happy hours here. As you can see he has not changed much over the years πŸ™‚

Our weather has meant we had to get a load of water in, we are so lucky we made in through to level 2 before this became necessary! The weather has also meant that the garden is flowering again and producing. There was actually a warm wind when I drove into work yesterday morning, so odd for this time of year.

So that has been the last couple of weeks. COVID is still very much part of each day, and we think we have only just begun to see how it is going to change things for us, and for everyone really. However we are happy to have some more freedom in our day to day, feeling lucky for all we do have, and find the joy in the little things πŸ™‚

Luca has always been good at this!
