It is ours! Now the real works begins ๐Ÿ™‚ Rich and I are drawing up plans for the build, though know we will be tiny living for the foreseeable future. It is going to be quite the challenge on many levels, our biggest yet I think. ๐Ÿ™‚

Rich brought this home from the op shop the other day…

There are significant differences between how we did things on the Canadian prairies, to how we will do things here. Lots to learn! Someone I have met here is downsizing their bee hives and would like to give us one. I know very little about them, but like the idea, aiding bees to thrive is essential, (they are facing a crisis worldwide, and we will not survive without them), not to mention the added bonus of honey!

The school holidays flew by. The weather was somewhat rainy and cool. Luca and his mates all came down with colds and gastro bugs. This meant time indoors and a forced hiatus from our usual outdoor pursuits. Sometimes this is not a bad thing , a good excuse to do other things we enjoy…

Card and boards games

Building indoor zip lines for Kevin and co (Luca’s stuffies!)

Hanging out with Vida

and generally just chilling out and recovering…

Vida is in love with the fire, the closer the better, I am surprised she does not go up in flames at times!

Then the weather came right, we are bug free, and can get out and about again…

Exploring the coast line…

Bike riding…

Luca has totally nailed the bide riding, Otago rail to trail here we come!

and spending time in the botanical gardens. The different seasons altering the landscape here a lot. Rich and I love to visit if I get a day off during the week, it is a huge area with lots of trails and a great cafe at the end ๐Ÿ™‚

last time I took a photo of this scene the Fall colors were at their best

Speaking of food. Dawn, (sister in law), sent over a cookbook we have been missing a lot! The author is a well known Canadian cook and we love her recipes. Rich so so happy to have it again. We had it for many years, but did not make the cut when we had to reduce to 6 suitcases!

The boys have been cooking up a storm, Rich really has the whole dough thing sorted, I am trying to convince him making butter and cheese is next on the list! I did a cheese making course a few years ago and would love us to get into it properly at some point. Helpfully the “how to”, is outlined in the smallfarming book ๐Ÿ™‚ ….

Luca is back to school and regular football games…

Happy boy about to head to school…
Luca and his mate Ted heading home from school….
After match smoothie…this one apparently really good, but we all miss the Costa Rican smoothies a lot have to say!

and our day to day routine back in line with it.

The count down until Pica gets here is on, 6 weeks! We do wonder how Vida, who is truly Queen of this castle and unused to sharing her humans, will feel about Pica, time will tell…… ๐Ÿ™‚
