Winter 2025…
It has been raining SOOOOOOO much, everything a soggy, muddy mess, my feet are threatening to turn webbed. 😬
Thankfully this weekend the rain stopped and the sun came out. On my walk this morning, I took a few snaps, so very happy to feel the sun. I have not taken photos from this angle before. Recent storms have taken out some dead fall and the views make for nice scenes of the Port.
This is the last 5 minutes of our usual route, just before the graveyard next to our property. The water like glass today….

Rich made it home after a harrowing journey of delays and lost luggage. He had a lovely time with his family, love these photos of Rich, his Mum, Dad and brother ❤️

It will be 3 years next month since Jen died. She is so greatly missed, her 3rd Grandchild was born while Rich was home. Juniper Jennifer is absolutely adorable. Jen missing this is heartbreaking, we all know how much she wanted to be part of her Grand kids lives. Her rose here is flowering, as it does every year at this time, (despite it being winter), in her memory.

I had asked Rich to make a trip to one of my favorite shopping places on the Island to pick up some things that are ridiculously expensive here and much more reasonable there. It is known as Goats on the Roof, yes they literally have goats living on the roof. Anyway Rich brought home some playing cards, so a pre-supper game was must to christen them 🙂
Rich’s Mum has for years, knitted us dish cloths, I LOVE them so much, much better than the commercial ones. She sent a supply home with Rich, it is the little things that really make a difference to the day to day!! I hear the other things would not have been found if she was not with Rich either XXX

As we had such a warm Fall, the lemon tree has got a bit confused and is still producing! I took this one off a week or so ago.

This is what is left on the tree, (taken today), will leave them on there until we need them..

The lettuces are tucked in nicely and thriving and the rhubarb is springing back into life,,,

Rich and I have spent the weekend sorting out the animal areas, carting gravel and hay and building a new rail fence up by the barn.. The top paddock looks so different this year to last, still lush and green, so very happy about that! The sheep are currently over where Wilbur and Kevin were. That area we intend to rail too , in preparation for the next couple of piglets, in the meantime the girls are there to give them a change of environment.
Speaking of Wilbur and Kevin, we continue to be grateful to them….

Luca and his friends were out last night at a music gig in town, someone they knew was playing. Dunedin has an abundance of small intimate venues for this type of thin, and with the buses running until late, it is perfect for the kids to be able to do their own thing
Last night was at Yours, a unique venue that resonates with Luca and his crowd for obvious reasons. I love that this is their scene, they are so very cool! So much cooler than I was or I could ever hope to be 🙂

They all arrived home around midnight and crashed, not waking until late morning, I made them cheese toasties to ease them into the day. Luca now catching up on homework and preparing for another week, he only has a couple more left of this term.
No matter if in the lounge or in his room, Pica, Vida, or both are usually with him 🙂

Speaking of Pica, Lemon drew this for me recently, I love it, reminds me so much of when she was a puppy, she was so full of mischievousness ❤️

It was my birthday this month and a friend gave me these beautiful flowers, they are still going strong, it is lovely to have fresh flowers in the house at this time of the year, Rich gave me a new laptop which he is setting up for me. We have been procrastinating about getting one for ages. This one he gave me back in Nova Scotia, and has traveled the world with us. It has been held together by duct tape for the last few years. You can’t close it , unplug it or try to rush it ,(it is VERY slow), or it crashes but I am very fond of it nonetheless. However it is time it goes where all things like these go, and next time I write it will be on my shiny new one 🙂

Until next time then xx
