Good Morning :)

Sofie and Secret waiting for their treats, patiently peering in the front door until I give in 🙂

What a difference a couple of weeks make. Weather has been lovely and the ground is drying out at last! I was so over the mud everywhere!!! Theses two find the sun and make the most of it..

We made it to the beach on one particularly spectacular day. Pica had not been for a while and had so much fun! Was just what we needed after all that rain!

Then the following weekend we hiked Trotters Gorge. This is part of Herbert Forrest which we have done parts of previously. Trotters had been on my list to do for quite a while, I was so happy to get up there. Herbert Forrest is enormous, we love it up that way. It is about 1 and 1/2 hours from us.

We hiked up to the top of this ….

Views out across Waitaki were incredible!

The bush getting up to the top was lush and beautiful…

It is all surrounded by farmland and one of the local farmers had this attached to his paddock which we found amusing. Needless to say we kept Pica out of there.

After the hike we drove out to Shag Point to check out the seals and views along the coast

My failed attempt at a selfie! We did have such a fun day though, came home ready to take on the week.

On the property Rich has been working hard at clearing another portion of land that up until now, has been unused. We are using to pigs to help us and clearing right back to the boundary line all the way down the length of the property.

The pigs are in heaven with this and highly approve!

The sheep love all the off cuts…

The area around the bees was quite overgrown but slowly but surely it is all getting pushed back. The sheep and ponies taking care of the grass situation. Rich has not had to mow at all this season yet…

The Kowhai this year has put on a lovely display!

Cruise ship season has started and we have an interesting one in dock at the moment. It is technically not a cruise ship but a floating residence. You actually buy the cabins and they sail around the world continuously. The cabins range from 2 million to 15 million! The 15 million cabin is bigger than our house!!! View of it from our deck….

Here is a link to their website for those interested. May not be within everyone’s budget!

Yesterday was Aria’s birthday, 22, I cannot believe it! One more year at Uni and she will be off into to the world. She and Luca are in the middle of exams currently. Luca and friends went out to music gig last night, but we all managed to have supper and cake together before Aria headed home and the others went out. They arrived home later in the night and all 5 still sound asleep. I did not get a photo last night which was remiss of me!!!!

It is a long weekend this coming one, (Labour Day) and Halloween soon after. The kids are on study leave so have plans apparently. Luca still loves Halloween, despite it being Spring here and Fall back in Canada 🙂

Here he is at this time of year in Manitoba aged 2, his enthusiasm of the season shining through ♥
