Challenges…
It has been a challenging month with our build, we feel like we take a step forward and then lots of steps back. We are having electrical, gas, leaking roof and hot water issues, all of which are fixable but a nuisance and putting us behind yet again. However we are choosing to look at the positive and are making progress in other areas. Our front entrance is coming along nicely…
and our current living space is starting to take shape and looking much brighter with the added lights
The carpet for the extension has been chosen and the timeline for that is now next week, if we can sort all the other issues, we are cautiously optimistic 🙂 Once that is in we can move into it!
Today Rich is finishing off the framing of the windows, he has done all the baseboard skirting and it is looking great, such a tricky job!
Spring has sprung with the Daffodils and Kakabeak giving a splash of color to the garden…
I was in central Otago for work for a couple of days and hit the most gorgeous weather…
The above and below was the view from my hotel, spectacular!
Below is the lake where the new clinic in Wanaka is situated, this was taken first thing in the morning, not a bad work location is it?!!!
The spring weather is very typically up and down, gorgeous one day, terrible the next. Today is wet, cold and miserable, yesterday was lovely. It was the opening of the long awaited trail that has taken 3 years to complete, linking Port Chalmers to Dunedin City for walking and cycling. This is an amazing feat of engineering as they had so much to work around, roads, railway and ocean, it will be so good for our little village and all its businesses. There was a huge turnout for the first day, we went along, Pica came with us and we all had great walk!
Talking of Pica, Luca painted this of Pica in art class, next to it is the original photo, we are impressed!
Last weekend Pica and I went on our usual meander which goes through the 2 local graveyards, they are so well taken care of and I always love the view as I come over the rise to this. There is a little bench that I am sitting on taking this, our usual stop before the last leg home…
The chooks are well underway with their laying again after a bit of a break, and arrive on the deck each evening telling us it is dinner time…
I have a week off work coming up and intend to spend it helping Rich with the build and getting my vege garden sorted . It has continued to supply as with the basics over winter…
We have had to take the roof off the deck cover while they do the new guttering which we are very much hoping to get back on soon. It is fine when it is like this photo below, not so much when it is raining!
It is hard to believe we are heading into the last week of August. Work has been very busy and I am away from Dunedin quite a bit. Sickness has been rife with all the staff and at Luca’s school as well, he and I had held it off, but have succumbed in the last couple of weeks. This has added to this last month being a tough one, and we are all looking forward to the summer when we can open up the house and lie in the hammock soaking up some vitamin D and fresh air, not long now…. 🙂
