July 2022….

School holidays officially started today and along with them the winter weather has set in, it is truly horrible out there!

Luca , Rich, Pica and Vida make the most of weather like this! These are common scenes in this house on days when the outside is not so appealing, very cozy! šŸ™‚

Luca has been working from home the last week of school as sick ,(thankfully not covid), not serious but I don’t think anymore bugs need to be shared at school these days, they are barely coping as it is and online learning is very accessible now.

Reading the classic, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and then doing an essay on it was one of his English assignments . I am sure we all remember reading this at some point, I found it utterly confusing when I read it years ago, Luca loved it !

Two weeks ago it was glorious weather! We took the ferry from the village across to the other peninsular, biked down that side, then up this side. It was such a great day! How incredibly lucky we are to have access to this 5 minutes from home.

This is where we leave from, the little dock is well used and very picturesque, it is a 10 minute boat ride across.
The city has put immense effort and money into the bike path construction, such an amazing resource to have.
This is where we had lunch, if we had chosen to live on this side of the peninsular this is my pick of the villages that dot along the shoreline (MacAndrew Bay).

On the home front the building continues

The square table I got for a bargain with the chairs months ago, I had plans for it that are finally coming to fruition

Firstly cut in half….
place in approximate position to get measurements correct, the BBQ will eventually be inserted into the table area….
then attaching more legs and they look great! This area going to get a lot of use come the summer…

Staining has been a big job but we are really happy with the colour….

Luca has had cooking classes for the last 6 months , we are encouraging him to cook us one meal a week. I do not want him to be the kid that leaves home and lives off 2 minute noodles because he does not know how to cook anything else! This was his recent effort, it is a work in progress but he is getting there…

Speaking of food, my hydroponics are coming along, a little slower with the short days but still productive…

Vida has been very busy of late leaving us gifts most mornings! She is more a rat than bird catcher, which is highly beneficial living on the land!

Rich is flying to Canada on Wednesday to see his family. We are not often separated, Luca and and I will miss him a lot. We are planning lots of things to keep us busy while he is away, hopefully the weather will improve again and we will get some sunny days. Until next time….xx
