Carnival Time…

Last night was the Midwinter Carnival, part of the main street in Dunedin shut down and festivities started at 3pm and went on into the night. The kids loved it, we met my brother and his family there.

Lots of food….

Lantern making….

and general fun was had by all 🙂

Last weekend it was pouring down all weekend so we met my brother and his kids at the Museum for a few hours. It is such a kid friendly museum with lots to see and do, the interactive science room and butterfly enclosure always a big hit with Luca, his cousins loved it too!

Casa de Luca is at the finishing stages, barring any unforeseen issues it should be completed by next post, just in time for the school winter holidays.

Luca has been drawing up a storm lately, is in the midst of writing a novel, and he and his mates have created a website full of interesting facts, wet days definitely aiding this creative process….

One of his artworks made it to the school newsletter…

It was my birthday this month, the boys spoiled me! One of my gifts from them was this book, they know me well 🙂

These are some of the walks we aim to do, the Kepler we did last year. This year Rich sat at the computer as bookings opened and has managed to get us on the Abel Tasman – wahoo!!!! This was quite the feat on Rich’s behalf, as entire seasons were booked out in minutes on some of the walks. Covid and the lack of tourists has meant Kiwis are getting out and seeing NZ, the Department of Conservation said they have never seen demand like it ! We will do the Abel Tasman over the Christmas period, very excited about it as we love that part of the world ,(right at the top of the south island).

One of my other interesting gifts was a grow you own mushroom kit, currently sitting in our bath tube for a few weeks while it grows, it needs the dampness of the bathroom to sprout, I am hoping we have mushrooms by the spring….thanks Andrea!!! 🙂

Today we took Luca and his cousins to Purakanui Beach, (our local favourite). We are due snow tomorrow so wanted to make the most of the weather , this place never disappoints…

I captured this rainbow from our front door this weekend, I could not capture it like it actually was, the colours were so vibrant and gorgeous, but this will photo will remind me, it made me happy 🙂
