Walking legs…
Wednesday we went for a hike where Rich had gone biking on Monday. This direction leads past our bakery, so of course we had to stop in for Luca’s favorite treat!
We really loved the countryside out this way, so serene, beautiful and feels so remote, yet it is not too far from town. I guess though, it is all relative, it was a 4 hour hike. We do all feel after a month of these hills, like we have our walking legs now ๐
We stopped on the way home for a smoothie and coffee at a little cafe, and got talking to the owner. He has been turning his dairy farm into a nature reserve, over the last 15 years, by planting all the pasture into trees. He then built some holiday homes for tourists to stay in. It is all gorgeous! On the deck of the cafe hummingbirds flew up to feed while we chatted…
Luca informs me this is a Green Crowned Brilliant Hummingbird ๐
After our drinks he suggested we walk through his property and enjoy it. He did not want anything for this, just wanted to share it with us, so nice of him! He has done a great job! It was so pretty, and there was evidence everywhere that the animals and birds were all coming back to this area, that was not long ago, was all bare land. One of the homes was being rented by a Canadian family for a few days, we stopped and chatted, they were loving their stay there.
This was Rich and Luca attempting to swing across the little creek on the property using a vine, hmmmm, I stayed clear ๐ …..
On the way home Luca spotted these oxen and wanted a pic, they are pretty cool have to say!
Luca brought these just before we left Newfoundland and they were really hardy sandals, but Luca’s outdoor adventures have taken their toll ๐
Buying Luca new shoes we suspect is going to be a regular occurrence!
As usual each day, we discover more interesting bugs that are attempting to make their home, in our home, they always get gently shown the door, but not before we take a photo ๐
So came the close of another fun filled day, both Luca and Pica happy, if exhausted ๐
Tomorrow we leave here at 0445 and catch the bus to Puntarenas, then take the ferry across to Paquera, and finally another bus ,(maybe 2 we are not exactly sure, all part of the adventure! ๐ ), to Montezuma! Yep, we are off to the beach until next Wednesday. Luca starts school on the 31st of July and so we thought we would explore this area before he gets settled into the school routine. Some friends called in last night for a chat, they are heading to Tamarindo, (anther beach area), so we are going to exchange opinions on each when we all get home. They have 3 kids here in school and are heading into their second year of living here.
Next post from Montezuma all going to plan ๐ …..
